In the interests of the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people and vulnerable adults, the PCC has adopted and operates a Safeguarding and Protection Policy for both Children and Vulnerable Adults following the guidance of Blackburn Diocese.
Our church is committed to ensuring that everyone working with children, young people, and vulnerable adults:
- has undergone a criminal records bureau check at enhanced level,
- is adequately trained and supervised,
- understands and follows the Church’s Protection/Safeguarding Policy.
As part of the commitment of the church to children and young people and vulnerable adults it has appointed Tricia Griffiths as Safeguarding Officer. All people involved in activities within the church know who she is and how she can be contacted.
In the event of any concern being expressed we will seek the advice of Blackburn Diocese’s safeguarding team and if appropriate contact the statutory authorities. We would also take advice from Thirtyone:eight
Safeguarding is a standing item on all PCC meetings, we review the Safeguarding policy and action plan annually and amend accordingly. All members of the PCC complete Safeguarding training.
